Humble, lovable shoe shine boy?

Am I the only one who likes Underdog?  I keep seeing this ad for the new Underdog movie and whenever I mention it, I get blank stares and/or silence.  Surely someone other than me (and my brothers) like Underdog?

I LOVE Underdog!!!!

I HATE what they did to it, and that Jason Lee (cousin via my father's father [the dead scientologist], my folks won't go into it anymore) is doing Underdog's voice!

I HATE when they ruin something wonderful, especially when it was a pure, fun, lovely childhood wonder!

. . . thank you for this space.

I kinda remember Underdog from the "retrotoons" they used to play early in the mornings when I was little. I've seen ads for the movie, but it looks like it's not animated. Probably a good thing, because I hate animation - it makes me dizzy. Not that I'd see the movie anyway. :)

Scientologist or not, Jason Lee rocks my socks. He's great in My Name is Earl.

Hmm.

My biological grandfather was the scientologist, not the cousin. At least not so far as I know. I'm hoping not.

I find it difficult in the extreme to find a cousin - especially one so physically similar to my grandfather, father, and cousins - to be anything near "rocking my socks." Also prefer him in other stuff, like Chasing Amy or The Incredibles.

I am a purist and hate when excellent animations are ruined by "updates" or moves to live-action and such - especially when all they actually keep of the original is the name. Why bother go to all the trouble, why not just make up your own name to go with your story? Annoying.

And I love animations, from American anime like Watership Down, to anything from Studio Ghibli. Don't like most of the stuff late-night US cable "anime" though.

Jason Lee is talented, it's just . . . odd, seeing all the family looks and mannerisms up on screen. Very odd. And I'm still waiting for Lee luck (ie, not) to affect him. Probably just being paranoid.

I understand where you're coming from... I'm a purist only when it comes to music and books. Very rarely do I like a cover of a song or a movie "based on" a book.

I should have explained better about my dislike of animations - If I start watching particular kinds of it, I begin to get dizzy. If I continue to watch, I start to shake and vomit. Most doctors call them seizures. Hence, I hate animation.

The REAL problem I guess I have is that I'm too young to appreciate the old Underdog, and too old to appreciate it in its new form. :)

As for Mr. Lee, I'm glad that, as his cousin, your socks are not rocked by him. People might talk. Haha.

Me again!

I deleted that last comment because it was needlessly argumentative. It was something about people shouldn't criticize movies or books before they're released.

Sorry! This isn't even my blog. I have no right being nasty to your readers. However, I thought the deleted comment was worse than not leaving an explanation. I might be wrong about that. :)

I must be cranky this afternoon. I need a cookie.

Ok, now I understand the blank stares and silence, obviously this is a very controversial movie!

Everyone please chill. Let's get back to the important things in life.

There are virtual Chocolates-white, milk and dark as well as cookies and pecan pie for everyone.

Please take a moment to reflect on world peace and what you might do to make your part of the world a more peaceful place.

The silly men are over there ->in that box. Please be careful and remember if you choose one and decide not to keep him, try not to ruined him for others.

I will take one Silly Man, please. Preferably with lots of blond fluffy hair. Cheese (and wine) on the side.

Hello?

Is this speaker working?

Laurie-I am very sorry but there seems to have been a run on fluffy blond silly men so none are unavailable at this time.

There is also a bit of a shortage of black haired ones as well.

We do have some of the nice red and brown haired variety and all are fluffy!

Perhaps check back at the end of next month to see if any of your prefer variety have been returned?

In the meanwhile feel free to enjoy what is available now!

Oddly enough, I hadn’t noticed a shortage in Texas. Maybe the shortage only affects Minnesota.

Susan in St. Paul said...

I suspect it is a world wide shortage, something to do with the moon perhaps?

Don't be fooled by those in Texas masquerading as blonds, or silly ones who appear available but really aren't, at least not at this point in time.

Regarding Minnesota-tons of blonds some even fluffy, and although they may be humorous on occasion, they are NOT silly.

Susan - Not available? Interesting.

Laurie-its just the same old same old, and I am teasing a bit too.

I removed my previous comment because I remembered this is an all ages welcome blog, and some of it was not age appropriate.

Its hot and humid enough here to poach an egg on the sidewalk. Time to get some sorbet and settle in watch the PBS special on Haute Couture.
