What animal am I?

You Were a Cat

You are an independent person who inspires others with your dreams.

A calm protector, you will fight when you need to.

A Cat? I am allergic to cats! It seems to fit though.

Thanks Laurie aka Miss New Orleans

Laurie made this comment,
Hmmmm, maybe the allergy is a part of the whole past life thing.

You Have a Melancholic Temperament

Introspective and reflective, you think about everything and anything.

You are a soft-hearted daydreamer. You long for your ideal life.

You love silence and solitude. Everyday life is usually too chaotic for you.

Given enough time alone, it's easy for you to find inner peace.

You tend to be spiritual, having found your own meaning of life.

Wise and patient, you can help people through difficult times.

At your worst, you brood and sulk. Your negative thoughts can trap you.

You are reserved and withdrawn. This makes it hard to connect to others.

You tend to over think small things, making decisions difficult.

Laurie made this comment,
***You Have a Phlegmatic Temperament***

Mild mannered and laid back, you take life at a slow pace. You are very consistent - both in emotions and actions. You tend to absorb set backs easily. You are cool and collected.

It is difficult to offend you. You can remain composed and unemotional. You are a great friend and lover. You don't demand much of others. While you are quiet, you have a subtle wit that your friends know well.

At your worst, you are lazy and unwilling to work at anything. You often get stuck in a rut, without aspirations or dreams. You can get too dependent on others, setting yourself up for abandonment.

NOTE FROM LAURIE: As I said on Mr. Wang's blog, I only dispute the laziness trait. Tired, yes. Lazy, no.

Thanks Mr Wang

Review of The World

I just finished watching "The World." The characters are workers in a real theme park in Beijing called The World Park that displays miniaturized versions of the most recognized places of interest in the world. It also has Las Vegas style dance numbers and huge subterranean world for the cast members.

The discrepancy between the accelerated urbanization of Beijing is contrasted against the workers social and economic lives. They use cell phones and text messages for everything yet still retain many traditional relationships and family values. Animation is used to go inside the minds of some of the characters. The World workers are lucky, they have jobs, relatively safe jobs, places to live and food to eat but in many ways they are isolated and lost.

This is the first film Jia Zhangke has shot with state approval, all his previous films were banned, underground works. It isn't clear why this was approved, unless the state sees the surreal mix that is China today as a positive step toward the future.

I found it to be a very interesting, amazing and yet incredibly troubling movie. The cinematography is fantastic.

Another quiz-not sure its me, probably just my mood at the moment ;-)

What Color Are You?

Reds are motivated by POWER, seek productivity, and need to look good to others. Simply stated, REDS want their own way. They like to be in the drivers seat and willingly pay the price to be in a leadership role. REDS value whatever gets them ahead in life, whether it be at work, school, or in their personal relationships. What REDS value, they get done. They are often workaholics. They will, however, resist being forced to do anything that doesnt interest them.Reds need to appear knowledgeable. They crave approval from others for their intelligence and insight. They want to be respected even more than they want to be loved. They want to be admired for their logical, practical minds. REDS are confident, proactive, visionary, and can be arrogant, selfish, and insensitive. When you deal with a RED, be precise, factual, and direct.

I'm a White...(it definitely fits)...

WHITES are motivated by PEACE, seek independence and require kindness. They resist confrontation at all costs. (Feeling good is more important than being good.) They are typically quiet by nature, they process things very deeply and objectively, and they are by far the best listeners of all the colors. They respect people who are kind, but recoil from perceived hostility or verbal battle.

WHITES need their quiet independence and refuse to be controlled by others. WHITES want to do things their own way, in their own time. They ask little of others, and resent others demanding much of them. WHITES are much stronger than people think because they dont reveal their feelings. WHITES are kind, non-discriminate, patient and can be indecisive, timid, and silently stubborn. When you deal with a WHITE, be kind, accept (and support) their individuality, and look for nonverbal clues to their feelings.

What country are you?

You're Libya!

It seems that these days, you just say things to get attention.

Shock value is the really important thing for you now.

You used to have a cause, and this made you seem like a threat to the established order, but now you just want to say wacky stuff once in a while.

Air travel doesn't really mesh with your lifestyle, and you'd probably scare the security guards somehow anyway.

Hmm, doesn't sound like me at all, but maybe a certain sock is rubbing off on me, LOL!

Thanks Avinsen!

You're Switzerland! While most people think you're sort of stuck up, it's really just that people don't interest you that much. That's why you'd rather just stay out of everything and be as neutral as possible. Somewhere in there is an ability to be a psychiatrist because you're so objective, but you might just be too cold for that.

Laurie made this comment,
You're Texas! You aren't really much of your own person, but everyone around you wishes you'd go away, so you might as well be independent. You're sort of loud-mouthed and abrasive, but you do have a fair amount of power. You like big trucks, big cattle, and big oil rigs. And sometimes you really smell. But it's not all bad, you're big enough to have some soft spots somewhere in all that redneck madness.

3 things you might not know about me

Tuesday, 6 June 2006

1) I think I have a washcloth fetish, I just did laundry, and am currently folding 40 washcloths and just a few hand towels ;-). I have two types: nice ones for showers and cheap ones (12 pack bundles) for whatever. I also have some other whatever cloths: large white cotton dishcloths that double as table cloths, chair covers, full body aprons for children, lettuce washers, montor, headbands when cleaning, tv screen covers and of course, as dish towels. The other whatever cloths are little round terry and flannel things that my friend K. makes from the remains of the cancer caps and respirator bibs from her charity works. These are stacked in the kitchen and are meant to replace paper towels and they work quite well. Any visitors to my place can always be assured of a clean washcloth, or 2, 5, 10...

2) In the past, I have had a problem collecting tables. For the past decade, I have been great at getting rid of excess tables and not adding anymore but during the past year's stressful times I have collected an additional 3 tables. These are all sewing table, and one of which is for a machine I do not own ;-) Current table/desk collection in my 2 bedroom apartment is 10! a kitchen/dining, a corner desk, 2 finnish desks, 3 sewing machine tables, a card table, and 2 glass/iron balcony tables. I hope I don't go back to collecting unusual chairs again. Luckily, the one I'd really like is beyond my means at the moment so I should be safe.

3) Once I really like a person & let them in, I tend to like them forever. I may go a while without communicating with them, but that doesn't mean I don't like them or am not thinking about them. I don't let many people that close to me, I am very slow to get used to someone and even slower to love, but once I do it seems permanent. You'd have to do something pretty horrible to get thrown out of my life. My relationship with them may change over time, morph into something else but I still have the same basic feelings about them. I seem more interested in the person than the actual perimeters of the relationship, I mean it becomes whatever the person and I choose it to be.

Laurie made this comment,
I've never had a friend who collects tables but now I do. :)

Susan made this comment,
Lucky you ;-)!!!! I just realized I forgot the 2 cutting tables, a bookshelf with a writing leaf and a cedar chest that I use as a coffee table sometimes. So its actually 12 or 14 depending on the use of the cedar chest and whether the writing leaf counts. Also I have one of those folding tv tables that I didn't count
